Some 18 to 20 teams of draft horses recently displayed their strength and beauty at an old fashioned plowing competition at Yamhill Valley Heritage Center in McMinnville, Oregon. The annual spring event
was an opportunity for city and town folks to experience farming as it was in the days before mechanized farming. Visitors could also witness horseshoeing, blacksmith and sawmill demonstrations.
A follow-up event — Harvest Fest — will be held August 13-14 where you can witness old-time farming with vintage tractors, draft horses and mules harvesting crops. For a glimpse of country life, Harvest Fest is an event not to be missed.
